Ricardo holds a BSc. Degree in Physics from the University of Porto (Portugal) and an MSc. in Medical Physics from the University of Porto in collaboration with the Portuguese Oncological Institute (IPO), with a thesis titled “Analysis of the dose in the region of tracheostomy in patients with head and neck cancer”. He also has a second MSc. Degree in Quantitative Methods for Finance by the University of Coimbra (Portugal), with a thesis titled “Monte Carlo Analysis of Portuguese Complex Financial Products”.
Ricardo worked in the Portuguese Air Force for 4 and half years as a Deputy Head of Quality in the Aircraft Maintenance in Air Base 5; his last professional activity before joining the PHOQUS project.
Role in the Project
Ricardo joined the University of Dundee as a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher on the project PHOtonic tools for Quantitative imaging in tissUeS (PHOQUS). His project is related to the development of high speed Light Sheet Fluorescence Microscopy (LSFM) with the aim of studying the large scale coordination of complex cell behaviours in avian and mammalian embryos currently not possibly with conventional microscopic techniques. The project will entail further development of the experimental instrumentation and advanced high volume data processing and image analysis methods.
